Définition « Zone Euro »

DÉFINITION ZONE EURO : Zone monétaire qui regroupe les Etats membres de l’Union Européenne (UE) qui ont adopté l’Euro comme monnaie unique. La Zone Euro a été fondée en 1999 par 11 pays et compte actuellement 17 membres. La Zone Euro est régulée par la Banque Centrale Européenne (BCE).

Les pays souhaitant rejoindre la Zone euro doivent répondre à différents critères :
– Taux d’inflation inférieur à 1,5% de la moyenne des 3 États membres ayant l’inflation la plus faible.
– Déficit public national ne pouvant excéder 3% du Produit intérieur brut.
– Indépendance de la banque centrale du pays; ou encore dette publique inférieure à 60% du Produit intérieur brut.
